Views from around the World

I was listening to a radio show that was getting reactions from around the world to the election. They were interviewing statesmen from all over.

Each interview began by asking for a general reaction. Everyone welcomed the results. They commented that it instantly changed the world's view of America. They were overjoyed and congratulated the American people on the selection. Some expressed jealousy. They wanted to borrow our leader!

Next they were asked how the world would change. An Arab lady talked about how Obama was going to rein in the Israelis. An African talked about how Obama was going go bring peace to Darfur. A European talked about how Obama was going to bring peace to the Middle East. Oh yeah, there was the guy that thought Obama would work on poverty in Latin America. One caller wanted Obama to intervene in Darfur and another prayed that he would not intervene, but would negotiate.

Yikes - it seems like everyone thinks that Obama is going to fix their problem! And this is from leading politicians. I have been hoping that he will fix our economy and health care. Those are both huge problems. It will be truly amazing if he could fix either one much less both. And now everyone expects him to fix all of the problems everywhere in the world.
