Flood Maps

I found an interesting modification to Google Maps. Global warming has brought speculation on the affects of the rising levels of the ocean. This tool shows the areas that would be most affected. Blue shading denotes those areas. These same areas would be affected by just general flooding.

Like all Google Maps, you can zoom in or out and move the picture to show other areas. This modification also allows you to show different rises in sea level. I modified the link to show how Santa Cruz would be affected by a 7-meter (roughly 20 feet) rise in the ocean. You can see that downtown Santa Cruz and the harbor area would be largely wiped out, where most other areas would be relatively untouched. You can see this here.
