Vacation – Last Thoughts

It was really nice to be at the resort during the off-season. It was never crowded. Although, I did not expect many families since the vacation was during the school year. I forgot that many families are made up of pre-school children! However, the families were not a problem. In fact, my wife enjoyed watching the young ones. Also the resort was busier during the weekend. It looked to me like Hawaiians would come from other islands to spend the weekend at the resort. But, once again, it was never a problem.

The weather was great all week. There was a slight drizzle two or three of the nights, but we were inside during most of it. It never really bothered us. There were a few days when it got pretty warm (high 80’s), but most days were pretty comfortable (low 80’s). One day that we visited the east side of the island, it was rainy and foggy there, but it was nice on the dry west side of the island.

While we had a great time here, I realize that this resort is not for everyone. In fact, it would not always be right for us. We have had vacations where we wanted to spend a lot of time exploring different beaches, or exploring the local culture, or exploring the shopping on the island. Other times we have come to the islands with a relatively strict budget. In each of these cases, the resort would be the wrong place to be. However if you are willing to spend the money, don’t want to spend much time in the car and just want a place to relax and have fun, this resort is a great place to be.

As much as I have raved about this resort, I am not sure that we even saw it all. On one of the last evenings, the main path to our room was closed. So we took an alternate path and discovered a flamingo pond! There were 6 or 7 live pink flamingos gathered around their own pond. We would have never seen this, if the path to our room were not blocked. Who knows what else we missed?

In summary, this was the best vacation that either of us can remember. A great way to celebrate 25 years of marriage!
