Nobody Knows what happened to the time

Tonight we watched a DVD of a Japanese movie called "Nobody Knows". It is about four children who move into an apartment with their mother. The landlord only knows about one of them, so the other three are supposed to stay hidden in the apartment. Shortly after they move in, the mother leaves. For the rest of the movie, nothing much happens. For a extra loooong 2 hours and 21 minutes, nothing much happens. We kept waiting for something significant to happen. And waiting and waiting. It is true that the characters' hair does get longer and their clothes do get more ragged. However this happens gradually over the 141 minutes.
I should point out that the critics loved this movie. One described it as a minimalist masterpiece. I would agree with the minimalist comment. So, in tribute to this movie, this will be a minimalist review.
