Aptos Hills Bike Ride
This morning, I went on a ride with my friend Karyn and two of her friends. We started at the entrance of Nisene Marks State Park and went up into the Aptos hills. We wandered around the hills and came out on Freedom Road, then we returned to Soquel Drive and back to where we started. The route can been seen here.
The ride was relatively short (only about 11 miles), but had some nice hills in the middle. We have not been riding up too many hills this year, so this was a change of pace. We have decided to do more hilly rides in the future. The nicest part of the ride was that we rode on country roads with very few cars. It was a very peaceful ride. It is also nice that the route has a long downhill at the end of the ride.
After the ride, we went for coffee and pastries. Sitting there, we saw lots of bike riders go past. We saw a group of about 30 riders, another group of about 20 riders and several groups of 2 to 5 riders. This was all in about 20 minutes. It seems like this area is very popular with bike riders. Karyn and her friends know of several routes in this area. I am looking forward to exploring it with them.
