Did I ever tell you how much I hate the wind?

I went for a ride this evening after work. As I started I was feeling good, but did not have a lot of time. So I decided to ride up to Davenport and back. I wanted to make the 20 mile ride at a relatively fast pace.

Just as I got out of town, I hit the wind. Did I ever tell you how much I severely dislike the wind? And it was like riding into a wind tunnel this evening. Forget the "relatively fast pace." I just feel like I am in slow motion, putting out alot of effort to get nowhere. I hate even writing about the wind.

Plus, it is painful to ride up and down rolling hills into the wind. I ride down a hill and the dastardly wind will stop me a the bottom of the next hill. No momentum to carry me partway up the hill. Oh man, I HATE riding into the wind!

Anyway, I struggle into Davenport and turn around back towards home. Now this is going to be fun. I will have the wind tunnel at my back. It was great, I finally got my "relatively fast pace" and the wind was blowing me UP the hills. After about 2 miles, Pffffttttt. Did I ever tell you that there is one thing I hate MORE than the wind ... that's getting a flat tire! Sheesh! I'll say that again, Sheesh! After my last escapade with flat tires, I am thinking about the sun going down, about it getting cold, about no cell phone coverage, about no Karyn to rescue me. This may not be much fun.

Luckily, I was able to replace the tube on my first attempt and was back on my way, in not too long. So I am riding along and I have resumed my "relatively fast pace". Then a few minutes later, a bug flies into my mouth. Did I ever tell you that I mildly dislike getting bugs in my mouth? But nothing like the wind or flats. Anyway, I finally get home, feeling pretty tired, but in good shape.

Hmmm, I wonder if there is still some of that Belgian Dark Chocolate Ice Cream in the freezer? Did I ever tell you much I luv ...
