And now for something completely different

Today, my wife and I went to the Legion of Honor Fine Arts Museum in San Francisco. We met our friends Russ and Rebecca there. The museum currently has an exhibit of Monets. They are showing 50-some paintings by Monet. The exhibit concentrates on Monet's work in Normandy. Many of the paintings were spectacular. This site shows fifteen of the paintings that we saw.


The museuem also has a nice collection of Dutch and Flemish painters, which I am quite fond of. This is part of their permanent collection. So we spent another hour looking through this collection. Afterwards, we headed down to the museum dining room, but found that it had a long line to get in. So we decided to go out for a late lunch.

We ended up at the Beach Chalet restaurant on the Great Highway and had a very nice lunch. We had driven past this restuarant several times while driving donw the Great Highway but had never had a chance to stop in. We were glad when Russ suggested it. All in all, a nice day in San Francisco.
